Pyrenean chamois hunting is a true high-altitude mountain experience built around glassing vast alpine basins and steep ridgelines. We hunt chamois in the rugged Pyrenees, where open high country, broken rock, and sharp elevation changes demand careful planning and strong situational awareness. Much of the day is spent glassing from distance and assessing animals across difficult terrain before committing to a stalk.
Once a mature chamois is identified, the approach is technical and deliberate, often involving long side-hill traverses and precise use of wind and cover to close the distance. Chamois hunts reward fitness, patience, and good decision-making, with success coming from smart movement rather than speed or pressure.

Questions, answered
Typical shooting distance?
Typical shooting distances range from roughly 100 to 400 yards. We take the time to ensure hunters are set up comfortably, shooting from a solid position and using equipment they trust, so every shot can be taken cleanly and confidently.
Can I bow hunt it?
Yes, but it is one of the most challenging species with the bow. All of our guides are active bowhunters and know what’s required to close the distance on these animals.
What rifle/calibre do you recommend?
We recommend calibres from 6.5mm and up. If you plan to bring your own rifle, we’ll discuss the species beforehand and make sure your setup is appropriate. We also have mountain rifles available, all chambered in 7mm PRC.
What level of fitness do I require?
A medium to high level of fitness is required for this hunt. Limited road access in many areas means hiking from lower elevations into higher mountain terrain. The Girona areas are generally more manageable in terms of elevation gain, while hunts in Huesca are significantly more demanding.
