The Spanish sierras rising in layered ridges at golden hour

Hunting in Spain

One base.
All of Spain.

The four-ibex Grand Slam in the high sierras, red stag and finca game in the dehesa, chamois in the north and a classic wing-shooting day — every hunt in the country, guided from Finca El Encinarejo.

Spain offers a hunting landscape unlike anywhere else in Europe. Its size, geographic diversity, and long hunting tradition create opportunities that range from high-mountain wilderness hunts to some of the best wing shooting in the world. Spain has it all.

Peace of mind

Everything considered, long before you arrive

Planning a hunt in a foreign country can feel complex, especially when regulations, travel logistics, and unfamiliar terrain are involved. Our approach is to remove that uncertainty long before you arrive.

From the moment your hunt is confirmed, we provide clear, practical guidance on everything you need to prepare properly — including recommended gear, clothing, and equipment suited to the species, terrain, and season. We also outline all licence requirements, firearm or bow procedures, and travel details so there are no last-minute questions or surprises.

You'll know what to bring, what will be arranged for you, and what to expect each day in the field. By the time you arrive in Spain, the focus shifts away from preparation and logistics and fully onto the hunt itself.

In the field

A day in the field

Accommodation plays an important role in how each hunt is planned. We carefully select hotels and lodges based on the species being hunted and the specific areas we'll be working in, prioritising comfort, location, and easy access to the hunting grounds.

Days typically begin with breakfast at the hotel before entering the hunting area. Most hunting in Spain is conducted through spot-and-stalk, which means much of the day is spent glassing terrain, evaluating animals, and waiting for the right opportunity rather than rushing a shot.

Lunch is enjoyed in the field, with well-prepared picnics featuring high-quality Spanish cuisine — an important part of the experience and a chance to slow the pace before continuing the hunt.

Hunting continues until last legal light. Evenings are spent returning to the hotel to unwind, share a good bottle of wine, and enjoy Spanish food — rounding out a full day in the field with comfort, conversation, and a sense of place.
