Beceite Ibex hunting country

Hunting in Spain

Beceite Ibex

The Beceite Ibex is one of Spain’s most impressive and hard-earned mountain trophies. Native to the rugged limestone ranges of eastern Spain. This subspecies is known for its heavy mass, wide flaring distinctive horn shape that often carries strong length and thickness.

Hunting Beceite Ibex takes place in a landscape that feels largely untouched, among old stone ruins and forgotten mountain settlements that speak to Spain’s past. The hunt unfolds in steep, quiet country where history and wilderness blend together, far from roads and crowds. It’s a rare experience that combines demanding mountain hunting with a sense of place that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Questions, answered

Typical shooting distance?

Typical shooting distances range from roughly 150 to 350 yards. We take the time to ensure hunters are set up comfortably, shooting from a solid position and using equipment they trust, so every shot can be taken cleanly and confidently.

Can I bow hunt it?

Yes, but the Beceite Ibex is a much more difficult bowhunting requiring more time. All of our guides are active bowhunters and know what’s required to close the distance on these animals.

What rifle/calibre do you recommend?

We recommend calibres from 6.5mm and up. If you plan to bring your own rifle, we’ll discuss the species beforehand and make sure your setup is appropriate. We also have mountain rifles available, all chambered in 7mm PRC.

What level of fitness do I require?

With access to approximately 250,000 acres, we cover ground by truck or 4×4, moving between established glassing points. Once the right ibex is spotted, we begin the stalk. This hunt generally requires a medium level of fitness, with hiking done in manageable sections rather than extended pushes.

“Once in a lifetime trip! The lodge was very well appointed, the food was delicious, and the grounds were breathtaking! The hosts were amazing — thank you Jess and Alex! This wilderness preserve is truly special. 10 out of 10 in every way.”
