Hunting in Spain

Gredos Ibex

The Gredos Ibex is widely regarded as Spain’s most iconic mountain ibex. Native to the granite peaks and high ridges of the Sierra de Gredos, this subspecies is known for its powerful build and long, sweeping horns that flare outward in a classic lyre shape.

Hunting Gredos Ibex is a genuine free-range mountain experience, involving extended glassing, demanding hikes, and careful stalking in steep, open terrain. Success depends on patience, physical effort, and close coordination between hunter and guide.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Typical shooting distance?

Typical shooting distances range from roughly 150 to 350 yards. We take the time to ensure hunters are set up comfortably, shooting from a solid position and using equipment they trust, so every shot can be taken cleanly and confidently.

Can I bow hunt it?

Yes, the Gredos Ibex is the most bow-friendly of the four subspecies. All of our guides are active bowhunters and know what’s required to close the distance on these animals.

What rifle/calibre do you recommend?

We recommend calibres from 6.5mm and up. If you plan to bring your own rifle, we’ll discuss the species beforehand and make sure your setup is appropriate. We also have mountain rifles available, all chambered in 7mm PRC.

What level of fitness do I require?

The hunt can be adapted to your level of fitness so if you seeking a real trek into the mountains we can do that or we can arrange horses to assist with the climbs.

“Since the moment we arrived, Alex, Jessica and all the staff were kind and welcoming. They take care of every single detail. The room was warm and comfy… All the meals were fresh, homemade and superb!”
