Ronda Ibex hunting country

Hunting in Spain

Ronda Ibex

The Ronda Ibex is one of Spain’s most striking and unique mountain trophies. Native to the dramatic limestone ranges of southern Spain, this subspecies is known for its deep, tightly curled horns and compact, muscular build, often carrying exceptional character and symmetry.

Hunting Ronda Ibex takes place in steep, broken mountain terrain defined by cliffs, ravines, and sharp elevation changes. The hunt is a true free-range experience, requiring careful glassing and precise stalking in challenging country, with opportunities that reward patience and good decision-making in some of Spain’s most visually impressive landscapes.

Questions, answered

Typical shooting distance?

Typical shooting distances range from roughly 150 to 350 yards. We take the time to ensure hunters are set up comfortably, shooting from a solid position and using equipment they trust, so every shot can be taken cleanly and confidently.

Can I bow hunt it?

Yes, but the Ronda Ibex is a much more difficult bowhunting requiring more time. All of our guides are active bowhunters and know what’s required to close the distance on these animals.

What rifle/calibre do you recommend?

We recommend calibres from 6.5mm and up. If you plan to bring your own rifle, we’ll discuss the species beforehand and make sure your setup is appropriate. We also have mountain rifles available, all chambered in 7mm PRC.

What level of fitness do I require?

With access to over 6 different hunting grounds, we cover ground by truck or 4×4, moving between established glassing points. Once the right ibex is spotted, we begin the stalk. This hunt generally requires a low to medium level of fitness, depending on which hunting ground, with hiking done in manageable sections rather than extended pushes.

“This property has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Views from the rooms and terrace are amazing… Great traditional Spanish food, giving you a real taste of the area… we stayed in the Lynx room which was fantastic.”
