Roe Deer hunting country

Hunting in Spain

Roe Deer

Roe deer hunting is a quiet, detail-driven process that relies on observation and timing. We hunt roe deer in the same rugged hunting grounds as our Beceite Ibex, where woodland edges, open clearings, and broken terrain create ideal roe habitat. Much of the hunt is spent glassing small openings and watching movement at first and last light.

Once a mature buck is identified, the approach is careful and controlled, using cover, wind, and patience to close the distance without being detected. Roe deer hunts reward restraint and precision, with success often coming from reading subtle behaviour rather than covering ground.

Questions, answered

Typical shooting distance?

Typical shooting distances range from roughly 100 to 400 yards. We take the time to ensure hunters are set up comfortably, shooting from a solid position and using equipment they trust, so every shot can be taken cleanly and confidently.

Can I bow hunt it?

Yes. All of our guides are active bowhunters and know what’s required to close the distance on these animals.

What rifle/calibre do you recommend?

We recommend calibres from 6.5mm and up. If you plan to bring your own rifle, we’ll discuss the species beforehand and make sure your setup is appropriate. We also have mountain rifles available, all chambered in 7mm PRC.

What level of fitness do I require?

This hunt depends on if it is a combo package or not and what time of the year. Roe Deer love the crops and open clearings so patiently waiting in cover is a ideal way to hunt this animals. If it is a combo hunt with the Beceite for example then we can often find them in the mountains during the day if a walk and stalk is preferred. A medium level of fitness is recommended for the walk and stalk.

“Pure class from beginning to end… Out in the fresh air amongst unique and protected animals whilst being spoilt and waited on 24/7. I felt so recharged and blessed to have found a haven like this… to support such a great endeavour of conservation.”
